Interior Lights stay ON!

Hi all,
A few evenings back during twilight, I noticed that my interior lights where on while I was driving so I thought one of the doors was ajar but the dash indicator didn't show this. Anyhow, I still stopped and closed both doors firmly. No change in the lights. Now they stay on whether I'm driving it or it is parked and locked. They do eventually go off but not for sometime after I have left the doors closed. I've tried everything I can think of but nothing works
(ie, lights on/off and dimmer switches, checking fuses, seat belts plugged and unplugged). Any ideas on what to do to fix this? It can't be the door sensors since everything else responds to them being opened like the bells and the dash indicator. Thanks for any help regarding this.

It could be a faulty switch...Ive heard of this before..possibly the reason why it goes out after a while while parked is because the car has rundown protection....im not 100% sure though.

The device that controls all courtesy lamps to include turn off and fade out is the Body Control Module (BCM). It's located on the driver's side under the dash by the parking brake. You could check to make sure the connectors are properly seated and tight.
If it's causng battery drain you could pull the INT LAMP fuse (10A) temporarily.
BTW - You'll have to remove the driver's side kick panel to access the BCM.

Thanks for the info BNaylor. There appears to be 2 locations under the dash there that have large, bundled connectors so I made sure that all of them were properly seated. I've also turned the Delayed Illumination and Exit Lighting program feature off so when I close the door, the lights should go right out. But they are still on. Pulling the fuse will atleast solve the problem temporarily until I can figure out the source. As for the BCM, can a fault in this device be the cause? If so, will it trigger a code in the ECM that can be picked up with the OBC II device? Just wondering. Anyhow, thanks for your knowledge and your time.

There is a high probability there is an electrical fault in the BCM. The BCM will trigger a code but typically the standard odb-ii scanners cannot pick them up. They are CHASSIS codes. To read codes or properly troubleshoot a BCM a Tech II machine is normally required (dealer). BCMs are programmed for your specific vehicle and options.
If you are capable of using a multimeter I can provide the pin numbers to at least check for voltages or ohm out wiring.
