Hi all,
I have a 95 GL wagon with cassette deck. Could i put in the tape deck that has the 10disc changer for the trunk from an SHO in without major changes? any help much appreciated.

I'll start off by stating that I am by no means an expert in attempting to retrofit other OEM systems to a Taurus. However, I used to have a '93 SHO and currently have a '98 SHO. I installed an aftermarket stereo system into my '93, and I've reviewed the wiring schematics for my '98 but have not modified it yet (other than some repairs I needed to make to the original control unit).

Are you referring to installing a CD changer from a 3rd Gen Taurus SHO ('96 -'99) in your 2nd Gen wagon? I don't believe the 2nd Gen ever had a changer, and even the 3rd Gen has a 6-disc changer.

The control units for the 3rd Gen is the oval deal, and the amplifier and tuner module is mounted in the rear of the car. You would need dedicated cables for that setup, and someone good at fabrication to install the control unit in the dash. You'd be much better off (financially and for simplicity) to buy an aftermarket changer and head unit since the '95 has the DIN style dash opening.

I'm not sure what they use for the '00 and up. In the 2nd Gen, you could get the DIN single disc player which required the correct tape player and a semi-rare cable to go between the deck and the CD player.

Overall, I think you'd be happier getting an aftermarket system for your car.
