OLD fan of 350

actually i lied....

but im still a fan of the carbreueted 350s

but i JUST bought a firebird

like.... im paying for it tuesday

alright well my problem

its a 1989 friebird

305 throttle body

now... my question..... WHAT direction should i go on performance.... i have never touched or thought about a tbi or fuel injected car...

it has all new ignition systems
shift kit
dual exhuast

dont understand all this ls1 ls4 stuff :-(

i was thinking though getting a performance cam (no idea), upgrade the air induction in some way (k&n filter), headers (holley 1 5/8), computer chip(no idea)

and basically this is my 1st experiance with chevy tbi engines and i dont know what im looking at....

can i get a push in SOME sort of direction??

i have one very similar except 86 trans am but wat im doin is changing an engine for performance but the car right now is a fast car so u odnt need to hurry ur self on this but wat i've been told is to get like a small nos kit or like octane booster also try cold air intake. Is it carberated u said or fule injected. if u have the carberated wat kind of carberator is on it? quadrajets usually do good on them for me. sum people have said they have to rebuild them a lot though, but i havent ran into that problem, also sumthin u should consider is sum sticky tires they'll help u out to. But consider sum of those thigns. Mr. luos knows quite a bit on these things i think so just send him a private message or wait for him to post on this thread

yea i have looked at two cold air intake kits already and both said they wont fit with throttle body engines :-(

and if it was carbuereuted...im with you there... quadrajet!!

sticky tires are a no go for now.. :-(

i thought maybe a bigger throttle body but i dont understand the ratings.... fucking tbi

lol thanks though!

dude

a quick easy little trick that'll make your quadrajet louder (when it sux in the air)

flip your air filter upside down

it sounds SO bad ass

thanx for the louder trick i'm gonna try that next time i drive lol well the throttle body stuff i dont understand it all either i just got my trans am but i heard that the rear end the #'s like 3.12 and 4.10 or sumthin like that i dont know exact numbers, but the lower number is faster like if u race goin down the highway. The 4's are quick off the line. Thats wat i hear from my family (we all have trans am's) lol well thats about all i know i've only been learning for about a month and a half. Thanx for the trick with the carberator again.

hey dude

NO problem

yea i understand the concept but not all the cfm ratings!

too much for my 15 yr. old brain to handle :-(

hm.... i might try and find a 4.10

im not too keen on getting a speeding ticket

cops round here dont care if you chirp a tire until you start to do full blown burnouts

the cops here r they same i passed one that was taking radar and i as goin 55 in a 40 and he just flashed his lights and gave me a warning. yeah im ony 16 to so i dont understand it that well either. So on that trick where u flip the air filter does it only work on quadrajets or will it work on a holley 4 barrel, double pump? i need to put that carberator in when i drop in my racing engine this summer.

uhm

i really dont kno

i dont see why it wouldnt

but like... its diff. with the quad b/c it sux so much air in that it sounds badass when it does it

not sure if it'll get the same effect
