I have a 95 max that recently had the alternator replaced. now stalls once warm & wont start when warm. starts & runs great when cold. mechanic plugged in & told me cylinder 2 missing. replaced plug & its coil & reset engine light. Still will not start when warm (wont take it far from home to see if it stalls when warm yet).

6 cyl engine 'works' with 2. Thereby one missing cyl can never prevent engine from starting: dont look at single cylinder as a cause, but smtg that controls the whole group.

First check batt & charge voltage, 10$ multimeter is a must.

When the problem is 'ON', easy DIY tst is to diconnect MAF; should start. If it does, works in 'safe mode' with 2.2k rpm limit: go buy used MAF from junkyard and swap.

'No other' single source may kill engine like that, except some connector failure - or ECU. There may well be two simultaneous problems, which really culd make troubleshooting difficult. Connectors should be cleaned, see whattodo: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/14
