Ok the belt work fine no burning or squeeking. I'm on the second alt. now. I checked all the conections, there fine. I just cant figure whats going on? Whats inbetween the the alt. and the battery thats on the same wire? If nothing I'll just wire a new line from the alt to the battery. What terminal would I go to on the battery if I did that? Thank you for any help.

If this is a rebuilt alternator you are using it could be defective. I went through 2 alts. in a 2 week period that were defective. Some times it would put out 11.5 volts then go to 14.5. I had the connection plugs replaced, checked all the grounds etc: I ended up taking the car to a dealer, paid them 1 hour diagnosis time. They guaranteed me the alt. was no good so I had them change it and haven't had a problem.

I managed to fix it...by buying another car. I bought this car for $250 its not a big deal if it doesnt run. I may try to fix it I may not. I just dont have the time, working 14-16 hours a day 6 days a week and trading off the other car with my wife was just getting to much. So the simpler solution was to just get another car. So if anyone would like a 85 Oldsmobile for $100.00 it does run great...just needs to figure out this electric problem.
