Draining Engine Oil on 2003 Galant

Hi all,

I just bought a used 2003 Mitsubishi Galant without an owners manual. I wish to change oil but I cannot locate the plug to drain engine oil. I appreciate if anyone can advise how to locate it. It's got the 2.4L engine.

hey, this was kind of the topic i was looking for too...i have a 99 galant and i wanna know where the oil can is.....i need to change it before winter hits!..are the 2003 and 99 galants the same?

on every car i have seen the plug to release the oil is located on the back side of the sump (u have to slide under the enginge and look for a tank with a bolt head on it) where all the oil is store while the engine is off. about 3.5-4 litres of oil will pour from that plug after u undo it with a hefty spanner so use a nice big oil tray. make sure u let it drain properly for 30min or so and then change the oil filter. more oil will come out here. whack ur new filter on and plug ur sump nice and tight. add oil gradually allowwing oil to drop into the sump and check oil level frequently. to much oil can be as bad as not enough. once it full run ur engine for 15min to allow the oil to circulate through the parts and the new filter.
