Turning Over but not starting. Need help please...

92 Silverado V6. Was drivingdown the street and truck started to sputter badly then died. Was able to start truck but it died immediately. Checked the spark plug wire and noticed it had been sitting on the engine and burned through. Obviosly need to change them. Checked the coil and it is getting spark. Before buying all new stuff, I would like to know what I can start checking beyond the Spark Plug wires. The cap and rotor look good but I don't know much about the Coil unit inside the Distributor. Any help would be great. Thanks

How long since the the cap, rotor, wires f/filter, and plugs were done, basic tune up stuff?

Been quite a while. Couple years I'm guessing. Just got some new wires, Cap/rotor, fuel and air filter. Gonna see if they fix it. Any other ideas would be helpful in case those do not turn out to be the issue. Thanks, Aaron

While you have it all apart (and by the way, I would change the cap and rotor anyway) I would go ahead and take the ignition module out and have autozone check it out. They will do it for free and it will tell you if it is faulty. If the coil has spark, I wouldn't worry about that. 9 times out of 10 it's the ignition module that goes out on these trucks anyway. If i remember right, it takes either a 5.5mm, 6mm, or 8mm socket and ratchet to get this off, I can't quite think of which one it is though. Then of course there are two plugs on it. Pretty easy to change.

inside the distributor, under the rotor. When you get the cap off you will see it. it has 2 plug in connectors.

Thank you Matthew. I appreciate the help. Today I changed the wires, plugs, cap, and tested the Coil. The coil was getting spark but the plugs are not getting any spark through the new Cap, wires and plugs. I am changing the Ignitiona Module, btu don't know what else it could be. Puzzling for sure.

Changed the ignition module, coil and still wont get juice to the plugs. I am very puzzled and frustrated

I hate to be a wise guy, but I keep wondering if you forgot to put the rotor back in? Or if the center spring under the coil got lost.
It contacts the center of the rotor.

I have had an ignition module go bad on me before, the truck just died and would not restart. if you replace it you must use heat dissapating dielectric grease to mate to surface of module and distributor or it will burn out on you again. the ignition module is one of those things that goes bad on chevy engines,

also check your battery cable connections, clean and tighten!
