Mysterious power windows...

I looked through about 15 pages of here and could only find one thread that didn't help too much.

So, the other day I was sitting in my '97 Civic LX with the windows down and the ignition off. It was like that for about 15 minutes (waiting for someone). I started my car and went to roll the window up and I heard a popping noise and the window would go down but not up. I came home and took off the door panel to look at it and the top section of the wire that pulls the window up and down was sticking out to the side, no longer connected to the window mount thing. A friend and I stuck a flashlight in the tiny space and looked for a way to hook it back up or what had happened. I saw a little piece of plastic on the part that is in the track that is bolted to the glass that was broken. Without anything else diagnosed, I'm thinking it might be that that made the popping sound and let go of the wire. Well after trying to reconnect the wire, the bottom section of it came off too, so now the window moves freely and is held up with string so I could still park it and not worry about anyone breaking in.

So after that I was okay. I would drive it rigged like that until I could get a professional to take a look at it. I put the door panel and everything back on. Then I turned the car on and checked the passenger side window (we had taken the door panel off to see what it was supposed to look like. But now that window only goes down too. :eek7: The wire is still hooked in at both ends of the window mount. The motor didn't even seem to be making an attempt to raise the window. It's now all the way down.

Anybody at all know out of all of this what could be wrong with either door, or some way to get the passenger side window up (I can't pull it up manually) so I can use my car for school until I have a professional look at it? Any help would be greatly appreiciated. Thanks.
