cleaning erg valves

How do I clean my erg valve in a 1999 chev lumina ? I keep getting a not ready code.

If you drive with a light foot, getting it our on the road and putting the spurs to it might just clear it out...
But your EGR is motor driven and ECM controlled, so it may have other issues.

You can spray carb cleaner into it, if the pintle is choked up with carbon.
