altenator replacementfor a 97

I have a 97 with the 2.0 and I need to replace the altenator. Would anyone be able to tell me the easiest way to do this? Thanks in advance.

You can do it yourself. Has to pull out through the bottom. Kinda tight squeeze. 2 bolts that hold it mounted to the block. 1 tension bolt. 1 cable. Not too hard, except for pulling it out past the axle. If you're not mechanically inclined, take it to a shop. Belt is kinda tricky too. Got to tighten it just right so it doens't squeal.

I had the water pump replaced about a month ago and there has been a squeal ever since.How is there a adjustment on the belt is it by a tensioner? Is it to tight if it squeals or to loose?

it sqeals when its loose. i just did the alt in my 97 yesterday. your going to need to take off 3 bolts. then u can move the alt up and down to get the belt off and it comes off from the bottom. and it is tight. also to adjust the belt you will see a bolt coming off one of the alt bolts that is to pull the alt down. which makes it tighter
