Im making a cd for my mother in law. every time i make someone important a cd, i put a special song from me at the end. i need some help. she is a very strong woman. she has been through many abbusive relationships, and some other horrible things happened to her. i am very close to her, and i just need a song to tell her how special she is and how important she is. any songs come to mind?

At first, I thought you were kidding.......
How about something by Linda Rhonstadt?
She did 7 albums (I think) on her own, as well as a few in her younger years with a band called The Stone Ponys.
Something like 'I am Woman' (hear me roar), or something else....she did lots of female-empowerment tunes on her own.
The Stone Ponys might have something too, but it was a lot of free-love, 'were all together now' hippie stuff.
If thats too hokey, try Joni Mitchell.

Fly My Pretties - Champion
I can email it to you if you want it, you're not likely to find it on any filesharing networks.
Where'd you learn to be so strong
Every time you fall I know you'll bounce right back.
With more determination every time
With more integrity every time
Oh it's got to be said
You came through for us
More times than I could ever count
So thanks a lot
Don't you know that I will never forget
A true soldier committed to the cause in every way
Taking on the frontline of our lives
Being there to give the good advice
Oh it's got to be repeated
You came through for us
More times than I could ever count
I know things'll get better for ya
And even if they don't I know you'll bounce right back from em
With more love in your heart
And more fire in your soul
More drive in your blood (x2)
Oh it's got to be repeated
You came through for us
More times than I could ever count
So here's to you
Can still a laugh at the end of the day
Committed to the cause in every way
A real trooper in our lives
A true champion of love

" I Am Woman" was actually sung by Helen Reddy. That song can be found on her greatest hits album.

Elton John, The bitch is back
Meatloaf, Bat out of Hell
Twisted Sister, We're not going to take it
Blue Oyster Cult, Don't fear the Reaper
and a few other.
But since the original poster has a good realtionship with their mom-in-law, then I guess the songs already mentioned by others above are good enough.
