Max boost on 1.9L?

Hi! I'm thinking about getting a '96 LX (1.9L) as a daily driver. Unfortunately, my ADD will not allow me to leave a car alone. I have a 20G turbo laying around, and I would love to throw it on a daily driver. (It wouldn't spool unless you go over 4000RPMS... so it's still good on gas normally.) Anyways, what kind of boost could I throw at this 1.9L without blowing the engine? Does anybody sell forged internals for these cars? Thanks

It depends, what do you plan on using for engine managment? Are you gonna change the compression ratio? What octane gas are you gonna run? Are you gonna intercool it?
With the info you provided, you can run some were between 3psi and 20psi.

Enigne Management: SAFC or Greddy Emanage
Compression: Forged internals (if available) with 8.1:1
Octane Gas: 93 Octane
Intercooled: Yes, a 3'' thick Front Mount Air to Air intercooler
Nice collection of Escorts btw! Maybe you can tell me where I could pick up some forged internals... I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

As long as you use large enough injectors, and run a safe tune (I dont consider piggy backs the safest way to tune) you can make about 240whp 275wtq with the stock internals, good for low 13's. If your gonna use piggy back fuel controllers, I would suggest lowing the compression with either porting out the lean burn section of the head to make it a HEMI shape, or run a 3rd gen 2.0 SPI head.

WOW JEFF! The "stock" recip. assy is good for 240 horse. You the man that'd know that!

But there aren't any forged pistons or rods for these cars?

There are pretty much forged pistons..hd rods ETC, for ANYTHING.The price..is another matter.Don't know about "off the rack" here?..but it pretty much for sure can be made.A call/email or two to those that make/supply/can get this stuff..will produce some results for sure.Might wanna take a pill or two before they give you a price..

 Thanks. I'll look into it.

Yes there are after market forged rod's and pistons for the CVH. But why? How much power do you want to make and how fast do you want to go? And how much $$$ is it worth to you?
As long as you dont have a half assed tune, the stock internals can hold all sorts of power.
