97 GT clutch squeaking

My car is squeaking when I engage the clutch, real bad. It sounds like it is coming from underneath the hood. I recently made a longer drive than my car is used to and now my car is acting crazy. Autozone said maybe my tranny fluid is low. I checked with an auto hobby shop and he said it is most likely my throw out bearing. My clutch still has full friction, when I am starting in first gear it feels like my clutch is grinding on something or pushing pressure back on my foot. If it is my throwout bearing is that a hard job and estimated time of repair. Please help!

Yeah well I used to own a 97 GT and yes I belive that is the problem. Sounds like the same thing mine did. It will make a real distinict noise when you push the clutch in is when you notice it. The throw-out bearing isn't to bad to replace, just time consuming. I go to school for Auto Mechanics and it only took half a day with two of us. Need more let me know.

if it squeals when the pedal is pressed in then its not the throw out bearing, pushing the pedal in will make it quiet. have you tried pulling back on your clutch pedal (lifting it towards you)? they are self-adjusting.

a bad throwout bearing only squeels when the clutch is pushed in generally.
as that is when the throwout bearing is physically sliding on the throwout bearing retainer and releasing the pressure plate.
