Headlight problems

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport. I have no low beams when turning on the headlights. Replaced the light switch. Tested wires. They are good. I can turn on high beams only if I hold high beam switch on. I have running, brake, fog lights, turning signals and hazard lights. I am at a loss.

Does it have the quad headlights? Either way, the red/orange at the bulbs should have +12 volts at all times. When the switch is turned on, you should then get ground on the other wire at the bulb. If you have quads, check the relays.

I have a 99 ram2500 with a similar problem. When changing from high to low beams (while driving), sometimes the low beams do not turn on, and I am in the dark - not good at 60 mph. The problem is getting worse - used to happen once every 10 times, now every other time.

I was going to replace the high/low beam switch, but maybe I should check me relays....anyone know where thay are?

They are located in the black box mouted to the left fender under the hood and the top has all the lables. However, if you don't have quad lights you wont have relays.

I do not have quad lights so it's obviously not a relay problem. So...it must be the multifunction switch or a bad connection in the steering colum to the multifunction switch. Do I have to pull the steering wheel to get in there or is ther an easyer way?

My problem turned out to be the multifunction (hi-low) switch.
