Transmission swap question

I have a 96 DOHC 3 speed ATX.. stock.
235,000 miles on the tranny.
I may rebuild it but I may swap it with a younger used tranny (It depends on my patience and courage). I have seen several trannies with a few different identifier codes. I don't want to upgrade the tranny or the vehicle's performance, I'm interested in a substatially equivalent swap.
Question 1):
What alphanumeric identifiers should indicate an appropriate swap?
31TH (A413) is what I think I have.
On a potentential swapper I see 100-GG AC molded in the side of it but it referred to as "470" ie A470 I think.
I have found a kit here:

That implies that the A413 (31TH) is identical to the A470.
I would like to confirm this or rule this out.
Any ideas?

The A-413 is what you have in your neon. The A-470 is a 4 speed tranny right? If so, then it would be a tight fit and you will have heat issues. The same issues that kept Dodge from offering it on the first gen neon. You could always swap in a manual and have some more fun with your neon.

I have thought about swapping in a manual... since the car is my son's, I thought it would be good for him to learn to drive a manual. So that is a good suggestion.
Re the A470... everything I read tells me it is a 3-speed. In fact I was concerned that it may be a 4 speed and consequenty worried about computer compatbility ( clutch lockin and throttle body linkage) and size and heat (I recall earlier thread on 4-speeds)
So I went to neons.org and google searched ebverything I could at allpar etc and the oem tranny guys and I am left with the weak impression that it is the same externally to a A413 with internal differences commensurate with new generation modes.
But I just can't be sure.

The 3 speed trannies are cheap and easy to put in. I would look for one from any neon between 95-00 as they are cable. 2001 and up are hydraulic. The 2000 and up trannies have 165 ft./lbs torque capacity. 95-99 have 135 ft./lbs capacity. Just an FYI...
