Has anyone used Rain-X Washer Fluid? I was wondering what is might do when it runs off the windshield onto the paint.

Personally, I steer clear of anything Rain-X, but that is just due to my experience with it clouding up, YMMV

I've never had any problem with the product when I apply 2 coats on the windshield and buff it. I've found I can even drive without using the wipers at all.

I even use it on my ski goggles and cycling shades when skiing or riding in the rain. The faster you go the quicker it rolls off.

I personally won't use anything BUT Rain-X washer fluid. I have never had a problem with Rain-X other than the complete pain in the ass it is to apply properly. The washer fluid applies it quite well. Without having already put Rain-X on your windshield it will take a while to apply a full coat using the washer fluid but eventually you will get the full effect. Very rarely do I ever use my wipers and usually when I do it's because I'm going to slow for the rain to run off the window from the wind. I have tried the product that Rain-X put out that you add to regular washer fluid but don't use it because it's crap. Only use the washer fluid that already had Rain-X in it. I've seen 2 different kinds. Thay make an orange one that has Rain-X plus a de-icer in it and that works outstanding to defrost your windshield and they also make a green one that is supposed to be able to rinse off bugs easier than normal fluid but I didn't see much of a difference other than having Rain-X in it so I pretty much use the orange stuff year round. This is just my experiance but I hope it helps.

Does it leave any kind of film on your paint?

I've never had any problems with it. My truck is the dark metalic grey/silver color. I also used it on my last car which was metalic red and I've never seen a film or residue on the paint from it.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear before I poured a gallon into the reservoir.

I really like rain-x,now don't go buy that rainx-anti fog one.Living in florida it would rain almost every day and boy did it help alot. But i bought some anti-fog rainx i don't know if i put it on right or what but it kept fogging up.Either I would put too much on and would have to wipe some away or I put to little antifog on and it wouldn't really work out too well.

Yeah that's why I really like the washer fluid. Rain-x is a total pain in the ass to apply correctly. It's time consuming and somewhat painful at times when you're buffing it off. The fluid automatically applies it everytime you wash your windows and I've never had a problem with fogging or streaking or anything. As I said before just DO NOT buy the bottle of stuff that you add to washer fluid. Buy the Rain-X brand that already has it mixed in!!!

rain-x and some other bug fluids take your wax off. DOnt use it unless you like to wax. Look at the VOC label. its almost paint thinner. I personally think it easier to just keep a few meguiars bug wipe singles. They are the best bug remover wipes out there

I guess Rain-X has a lot of products available, but I'm not talking about their bug removal product.
