Check Engine Light "ON" and sluggish Power

I have an '05 Yukon with the 5.3L Vortex and 10.4k miles. I just took it to the dealer because my check engine light came "ON". I have a code reader and it read P0785 (Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction).

The problem with the vehicle was lack of acceloration. I had no power from a stand-still or on the freeway. I noticed that if my car sat for awhile that the power would return but it was short lived.

The dealership did a diag on my car and stated that the flash for the computer was out and they needed to re-flash the computer. They did that and called it good.

Well it was good for about a day. Same problem accured and I will be taking the car back to the dealer on Monday for repair once again.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I am also researching the Lemon Law to make sure I have all my eggs in a basket if this issue doesn't get resolved.

First off its VORTEC not Vortex and ACCELERATION not acceloration
The P0785 code refers to the 2-3 shift solenoid control circuit.
The reason you have no power under acceleration is because the trans is defaulted to 3rd gear.
Sounds like an intermittant connection or faulty solenoid

I just got my Olds Silhouette out of the shop with a 1-2 Shift Solenoid, also called the A Solenoid. Caused similar problems, in my case it was in fact the solenoid, yours however might be the computer, since reprogramming it fixed the problem for a while. As I understand it "flashing" reloads the configuration for your truck into the computer. It's similar to the BIOS and Programs in our computers. The BIOS tells the computer what it is, and the Programs tell it what to do. The flash process reloads the information about your truck from the VIN number and tells it about what it's working with. The Flash should last the life of the vehicle, if it dosen't you have hardware problems
Be careful of the transmission, if your starting out in 3rd you might cause some damage. But any case it's back to the dealer.
See ya
