Hey, so this isnt about a FIREBIRD, but its a 3rd gen topic. My 85 camaro, has blue metallic paint. when i first obtained it, half the car was WHITE. seriously, white. The paint had bleached so much because of the sun that it looked as though it had primer on it.
So, to make a long story short, it turned out my 85 camaro had metallic paint, (im pretty sure this is from the dealership, cuz the inside is too) and it has NO clearcoat.
THIS WONT WORK FOR CLEARCOAT CARS (im pretty sure)
grab rubbing compound
polishing compound
lots of towels
and a good wax.
use the rubbing compound and stare in amazement as the white-ness falls off your car!!! seriously! my car turned from half white to BLUE. ill post pics once i get my stupid camera fone hooking up w. my computer..
use polishing compound, do this a lot.. (dont use rubbing compound too much)
then shampoo, wash..
wax! stare in amazement. :)
if theres some more white, just use a little more rubbing compound, polish, then wax again. this even worked on the plastic bumpers..
be careful tho, dont go too far down into the paint!
does anyone know when the paint was changed from lots of layers->layer+clearcoat?
