Sold my 3rd gen GT auto and still looking for the new 3rd gen. For those who might know how long I've been looking for a decent 3rd gen 5spd Coupe, it's been forever. So all I ask is if anyone on here can keep an eye open for someone selling their 3rd gen coupe located in the so cal area. I mean I've resorted to even stopping and pulling over to check out a parked 3rd gen and leave them notes if the car is similiar to what I want. And god has been teasing me lately, bringing me so close and then dangling it away by either making it an undamaged coupe but auto, a undamaged 5spd but a liftback, or my favorit of all a seller telling me no large damage and no rust 5spd coupe, when I check it out it has the 5spd, the GTS wheels, and is a coupe, but the sucker has numerous body damages rust and when you pop the hood and look at the damage on the side and door you can tell that the car had been in a really bad accident where the door got jambed. I mean wtf! HOW is that not major damage and I drove an hour one way to take a look at the car and brought my pops to check it out with me (he was a former car salesmen) and he could tell that the punk girl was selling it for commision. :swear: man... this is going to make me crazy....

it's hard to find an undamaged Celica that old. You might just have to deal with buying a project car. That's what I had to do. Plus project cars are fun. You can say you did everything to fix it yourself. There's a decent looking 3rd gen by where I live but it's a hatchback. Plus I live in PA so itdoesn't help much. Good luck with your search.

the lift backs of that year are extremly prone rust more so than the coupes and the lift backs weighed considerably more than the coupes. I know I can find one that I want, back when I wasn't looking for another celica (was planning on converting my previous one to stick) I saw one for sale 83 ST coupe 5spd, but I wasn't interested in it at the time, even saw it in person, but it was sold long before I wanted to get another one. I don't mind minor damage like a fender or a motor on its last leg... I'm more concerned about the rest of the body and the transmission.
