i've taken these either from the deck of my house or from somewhere else around alaska. i found them on my hard drive and thought i'd share them with you photo-appreciating fools.

One idea, Turn that date feature off on the camera. And you just made me want to transfer to UAF (University of Alaska Fairbanks), Cause DANG.

yeah i usually dont use the date feature but for those two pics it was on because i had just purchased the camera and hadnt bothered to change the presets. i will photoshop them out if i ever decide to make prints of either of them.
also, all of these pictures were taken in the vicinity of anchorage, nowhere near fairbanks. i've never even been further north than talkeetna, which is REALLY far from fairbanks :)
-pics 1 & 5 were taken from my deck in anchorage, taken 10/27 at about 7:30pm AK time (pic does NOT do the sunset justice AT ALL!!);
-pics 2 & 3 were taken just off the highway in the middle of anchorage;
-pic 4 was taken on top of flat top which is the most climbed peak in alaska;
-pic 6 was taken south of anchorage on the way to girdwood at a place my ex called sunset ridge.
-pics 7 & 8 were taken near flat top at the glen alps trailhead lookout.
sometimes i think that the scenery is the only thing that keeps me here because, in general, the people arent very nice and most are horrible drivers.

never thought about looking at the exif data instead? having the date on all the time is very obtrusive.

Great shots, Kay!
I particularly like photos 4 and 6 - the way the dim light removes all the details of and obscures the blemishes of the ground makes the water and land a very simplistic, serene, and thus beautiful landscape.
Photo 1, augmented by a quintet of long-haired men clad in black would make a kick-ass metal album cover :thumbsup: :D

I visited Alaska a few years back, was there for two weeks, first week on land, second week on a cruise ship, and yeah, it's just amazing up there. The air is so much different and the land is just awesome, and since it was more of an organized vacation it wasn't even half of what's up there. I'm sure if you lived up there and could hike in the mountains and such that shit would just be breath taking. The Denali Mt. Peak or w/e was awesome and I went river rafting at Denali National Park, most of the train trip was through mountains so that was cool. I went the first two weeks and during the last few days on the cruise ship the sun never went down all the way.
