have a 94 metro with 12" original steel wheels. would like to get a 13 or 14" wheel so I can get better tires, a nicer look, etc. what effects will a larger wheel have on the car? what other possible changes should I expect to have to make in order to use a larger wheel? where do you get them?

Well, you'll have to get the larger sized wheel studs. Any auto parts store will have them. Just ask for studs for a 89-94 swift gt. Being a 3cyl, unless you put the metro convertible(4.39:1 final drive) trans in it, you're gonna lose a LOT of power. The new ride height will also make the body roll a little more. It'll be hard to hold 70mph too.

you will need a drill press to drill hubs for larger studs, cant get the straight enough with a hand drill. you can get drums off a convertible or swift, they will allready have the larger studs

Hey GBT, Geozuki is right about the loss of power with the 13" wheels. I was driving an 89 Metro to work and thought that if I could put on 13" wheels I'd use less gas on my 112 mile (round trip) daily commute. I got some from a junkyard and my highway mileage went into the 20's. That ended that experiment! If you're looking for performance and economy then stay with the 12" wheels. If you want style then you'd have to pay big bucks for a fancy 13" or 14" rim and get really low profile tires to keep the outer circumference the same as the factory 12" wheels.

I will argue the loss pf power.

I'm running 14s and noticed very little difference in performance. Car sees 75mph every day.

And there are lug nuts that will work on the larger rims as long as they are the bevel type and not 'tuner' or mag style.
