fuel filter removal....

okay, i hate to sound like such an idiot...but frankly, i cant figure out what to do for the life of me. I need to replace my fuel filter, and apparently the connections on either side are quick connect. Ummm, well lets put it this way, they arent so quick connect. I spent like 45 mins trying to remove them and couldnt. Could someone please tell me what i need to do. BTW I have a 2000 VW Golf 2.0 GLS.

Boschmann, I know you're out there.

for the rear clamp use 2 flathead screwdrivers - (use one to press up on the tab on the fuel line and at the same time use another to twist off the line from the fuel filter)

for the front use a channel lock pliers and use it to squeeze arround the line clamp and a screwdriver to tist pry the line off.
