http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/3045/speaker25dl.jpg

so sexy...

ok got a question, on my box, how do i line up my template that came with the subs (for drilling holes) how do i center it over the hole that the sub goes in?

or should i just stick the sub in and mark the holes with a marker?

and i can just use drywall screws?

i currently have 5 gauge for power and either 8 or 9 gauge for ground, will it help if i use both the 8 and 9 gauge as my ground (stick both wires in the amp)??

i just put subs in, turn them to the angle i want, predrill the holes, take the sub out, clean the dust off the sub, put it back in and use one of thoes guards and just screw it in...

Usually the power and ground wire should be the same gauge. I've never heard of having 2 grounds for 1 amp so I don't know if that would work. Remember to keep your grounds as short as possible.

ya my 8 is 3 ft, i have 4 feet of 9

the subs came with paper with the holes marked out, but ya it seems it would probly be easier to just put the subs in and drill

my sheets are awsome

Use the same gauge all around

Bboy_Jon

well i cant i onl y have 14 ft of 5 gauge

and that will barely make it to my trunk (itll make it but i have no idea whether ill have to mount the amp on my sub box or if i can mount it seperatly)

so i only got 8 and 9 gauge

how do i wire them? there dvc, and do i have to solder? theres screws on the connections so i could just use ring terminals right?

and uhh how should i wire them?

from here

http://www.edesignaudio.com/wiring.php

under dual subwoofer systems do i use the first pic or the 2nd one?

its 200x2 at 4 and 300x2 at 2 ohms on my amp

the subs are 250rms so it would be better at 2 ohms right?

do i use the bridge connection or each sub for each channel?

for my leds, id wire them to the ground and the remote turn on right?

would i connect the positives and the negatives form each sub (the led + and -) in parallel? or should i do it seperate?

if you are going to use different guage ground should be the larger ;)
so go pick up some cheap 4ga from home depot...jesus it isnt that big a deal.

what is the ohm rating for the subs?

Bboy_Jon
10-28-2005, 04:31 PM
ohm rating is i think 4

does homedepot have 4 gauge?

CBFryman

yes, they have 4, 2 1/0 2/0 and 3/0, or at least all of the ones i have been in.

well i got my subs wired up in my box (took waaaaaaaay longer then i expected) and they work (only tested it with a hometheatre amp though)

tomorow i gotta bring my power cable and my base remote cable through to my trunk to see where the amp can mount, then i gotta mount that, and wire all them up

My dad happened to have 2 sony xplods (we think they are sony xplods, they have their own boxes, there around 6.5 inch or so) (ive known about those speakers but i didnt think they were any, uhh known brand)

and ya there not the best, bbut better than stock, how do i switch em out? just cut the wire onthe stock speakers? and connect to the new ones?

the stock speakers just have a little plug that you unplug and the sony's should plug in. i know that Honda cars have speaker harnesses taht you may need to pick up from auto zone or something like that.

Bboy_Jon

ya i saw the plug

but theres one on the wires, and then one on the speakers, wont i need one for the speakers?

Your speakers should have a + and - wire coming out of them. Take out your stock speakers and unplug them. Then cut off the harness and crimp the connections together. Test them first to find out which wire is + and -.

Bboy_Jon

uhhhhhhh

wait so am i still gonna use the harness?

or do i just cut the harness off (both the stock wire and the speaker) and just add a ring terminal or somethin?

just checked out my speakers and ya there sony xplod xs r6911 3 way

and ya there in their own seperate boxes, and they have some quick disconenct terminals on them

should i just disconnect the stock speakers and cut the wire in my car and attach some male disconnects to the wires?

I doubt that the boxes the xplods are in will fit inside the stock speaker hole. You'll probably have to take them out. Cut off the factory harness and just use the wires. It won't plug in directly without an adapter.

Bboy_Jon

lol of course the boxes wont fit

Ok well i got it all installed (not the sonys, not sure whether to just keep them in their boxes or not, cuz i cant get the old speakers out (cant unscrew them cuz i cant lift the rear deck panel)

but ya i got the subs and the amp in

this is my old setup

http://img417.imageshack.us/img417/8109/oldsetup2wz.jpg

and now my new one

http://img417.imageshack.us/img417/8186/new9vr.jpg

ya i need to re route my wires and stuff, but it was pitch black outside (i used a flood light to wire everything lol)

but ya in order for me to route the wires how i want (under the main carpet) id have to move the sub out of the trunk and stuff, too much work so i dunno

it works though, how do i set my gains and stuff i dont understand (using this guide http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=030419;p=1 )

for the power and resistance is the resistance the total load? (in my case 4 ohms if i bridge, 2 if i go on each channel i think) or is it for each sub? (dunno how much its at lol) and is the power the total peak of the amp? 1200w in my case, or is it the rms of the bridge, or of each channel? what?

heres my bass remote switch i mounted a few days ago

http://img417.imageshack.us/img417/310/bassremote3cn.jpg

heres my head unit

They may be attached through the trunk not the rear deck. Just take off the carpet of your trunk and look up and the speakers should be there. Only thing that sucks is you'll have to take out your subs.

Bboy_Jon

well i want to unscrew them, and the head of the screw is under the panel, (the point is inside the trunk) i can take pliers to it but ya too much work
