I have a 2001 Ford Taurus. My fuel gauge does not work any more. It hasn't worked for a few years now and am just getting around to fixing it. My check engine light is on, which I am pretty sure is the result of the fuel guage not working since it has been on the same amount of time that it hasn't worked. I have been told that the problem is that the flex fuel control sensor has gone bad. Is this correct? And if so, is this something that I could fix on my own or would need to take to a mechanic?
Thanks

First you need to have the check engine light diagnosed. Have the codes read and post back with the code numbers and we can help you. On the fuel sending unit, it can be the gauge, slosh module, FFV sensor, sending unit or wiring problem. You can not just start buying parts because someone says that might be it.
