Reverse
gearshifter

I just recently bought a 91 rodeo for $400 because the owner couldn't fix the reverse, but I thought I could. Every other gear works perfectly it is an automatic.
I read the review on it and found out that the dipstick will say you should add transmission fluid when it is already full. My Dad thinks it is something to do with the silinoed that shifts the gears. Does anyone have an opinion.

I'm not sure, but I don't think that the earlier Rodeos have solonoids to do the shifting. The spools move by mechanical force. You could try changing out the tranny filter and fluid. Its a longshot but it might get things going again. It probably has a reverse band that has slipped. Sometimes they can be adjusted and they will work again. I'm not sure how to adjust the bands, I'm just going on my general automotive knowledge.
