I am trying to find out where the Egr Valve is in the van? It will not run and keeps cutting off. Will not idle unless you keep your foot on the gas pedal. when you come to a stop it will cut off.

It is right below air intake snorkel- remove air cleaner and hose to intake- then you can see the EGR valve mounted with two 10 mm bolts- unhook 4wire connector wiring harness- then remove 2 bolts- be careful- these bolts may need to be worked back and forth- the rear of their threads are exposed as mounted- and become corroded- yet have to be backed out through the threaded hole to remove the EGR. Typically, I have had success in clearing a code 32- egr malfunction- by using a scan tool and commanding the egr to 100% and then revving the engine several times- to suck the stuck piece of carbon out from under the pintle valve.. This I always try first- because it works most of the time- and I get tired of removing the EGR valve all the time- just to vlean it out- and put it back in. The engine runs really rough while doing this- but you can usually keep it running- until it clears the carbon.....just my experiences

I've heard of a PROM upgrade that clears the EGR by exercising it to 100% open periodically while you drive. Sounds a ton easier -- but I've yet to get my Astro up and running. Still chasing a rough idle/power problem. I did inspect and clean my EGR and found it doesn't quite operate smoothly -- pintel seems to stick open slightly. 94 AWD 4.3 W. Wondering if that was normal.
