used 97 5.8, advice please

im looking at a 93 e-350 club wagon that has had the engine replaced with a 97 5.8 liter, miles unknown.
Looking for any information on the track record of the 5.8 or 351 from a 97 model. are these engines holding up well and following the ford truck tradition, or should i be careful, the current owner has used this as his everyday driver for about 8 months. Any advise or bewares are greatly appreciated, THANKS

well if it is a 351 it should be super if maintained properly since that would be one of the last ones. before the modulars came out. by then they should have all the bugs worked out.
