Hello

I have a 97 LeSabre that runs great (most of the time). When I got it the front end shook all of the time. I ballanced the tires, Replaced both CV axels, replace all four struts, 4 wheel alignment.

On a smooth road the car is smooth. A little rough road the car develops a fludder. It's really annoying! I got this car because I wanted a smoth right on my 20 mile commute.

Anyone out there have any ideas? Anyone have a disk being out of ballance causing this?

Your problem may be your struts inability to instantly adjust to changing road conditions. You may also have worn ball joints. Have the front end components checked by a reputable front end shop, not Wal Mart or some other "tire store".

My car has been alligned once by the dealer and another time by an alignment shop. Neither place mentioned warned ball joints. I have also checked for worn components and haven't found any.

What about the top strut mount? I'm getting some torque steer. This isn't under real heavy acceleration either. How much movement is allowable with these? How much force should it take to flex the top of the strut when it's mounted in the car?

What about the subframe? I had the front/left half out when I replaced the tranny. There are two mountings just under the drivers seat. Could these be causing my "fludder"?

Both the conditions you are getting could be caused by looseness or misalignment of the subframe.

I had a problem with the inner mount on the subframe to engine cradle located on the passenger side. In my case, there was a "pop" when a turn was made or the noise could be heard over a bumpy road.

Not sure if this is your problem, but here is a post which describes this problem...

Thanks for your reply! I've actually read your post and have done some thinking about it. You said that you'd be posting with some more details.

I might have to take this thing apart and check it out.

I'm also thinking it might be the lower arm stabalizer bushing. The one that goes from the lower control arm to the front of the subframe. I'm also thinking this may be the source of my torque steer.

When I get some time I'll check it out.

I only acknowledged psmos for finding the problem on his car which lead me to the repair of my own car. Anyway, good luck with it and let us know what you find.

I took a few snapshots of the mounts before disassembly, afterwards and a few of the new mounts before assembly if you like to see them. GM had a TSB out for the inner mounts where they recommended using epoxy to hold the inner mount in place. I put in two new mounts on the passenger side and epoxied the inner mount as instructed in the TSB. That cured my problem!

But as I had said earlier, I'm not sure that's your problem.
