I Believe that there are good cops and there are the ones that have the need to piss everyone the F*CK off. Not to mention that around here alot of the city cops dont do their goddamn jobs. I work in Boston and the other day some smuck runs a red light and almost smashed my company car. Cop is right there and does nothing. AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

If we had no police the world would be a crime infested place.. people complain about the police when they DO their jobs.. ie tickets, arresting for dui, DV. but then people(chevy4life1985) complain when the police dont do thier jobs. Its a thanksless job.

First off i aint complaining for them doing their job. OK. Being a police officer is a stressful job. I know because my family friend is an officer and he tells me some fucked up stories. BUT when there is a need for them to do something and it aint done you get pissed. Of course you complain when they dont do their job you pay them to do it. If i didnt do my job at work people would complain and i would get fired. YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY AT WORK TO DO YOUR JOB. End of story.

There are several things that could have been going on...
first. he could have been sitting as back up for another unit.
he could have been sitting/ responding to a silent bank alarm.
he could have been following someone.
he could have had someone in the back seat
he could have been doing an Invest. follow up.
he may not have been a traffic car, some larger cities have traffic cars and complaint cars.
he may have been a detective, in a marked unit.

SO AGIAN I SAY CHILL :loser:

Cops are usually pretty good except when they are having a shitty day or whatever and decide to take it out on someone who really doesn't deserve it. copcarcrzy you say people get pissed off when cops do their jobs & and when they do their jobs, and that it is a thankless job. Not really if you're breaking the law, sure you're gonna be unhappy if you got caught but that doesn't mean you're pissed at the specific cop who arrested you/ticketed you. If i break the law and get busted, it's expected. But when I see people breaking the law on a daily basis and cops aren't doing shit I get really pissed of. And also where they focus their attentions. In my town we have a massive coke/crack problem that has poped up in the last 2 or 3 years and the cops don't do shit about it. They go around arresting the fucking 16 year old kids with a dime bag of pot, and crap like that. I find in small towns like I live, where if you get caught doing something illegal then you are screwed! I've got friends who have gotten speeding tickets and then all of a sudden they start getting pulled over like once a week for nothing at all. Cops around me are power hungry, they think just because they have a badge and a gun that they are fucking god. It's like you aren't special buddy, i could go take the fucking civil service test myself and be a cop in 2 seconds. Although they are the "enforcers of the law" they take it a little too seriously and in other cases don't take it seriously enough. Peace-

Boy, hot topic. I can sure appreciate both sides. As with the world of mechanics(I used to be one) there are good ones and there are bad ones. I hear lots of stories about big cities and smaller places like mine. I had a drug dealer living next door to me for 5 years. We worked with police for ages trying to get something done. My wife and kids were harrassed constantly. But in this day and age, the rights of people with no respect for the law seem to be better protected than those who follow it. This is no fault of our police, just the society we live in. Give the good cops a pat on the back and say thank you; and the bad ones, well, always openings at McD's.

I really hate cops, but have I have to respect them because they have the power of screwing your driving record up and other things in your life. The cops down around Blairsville, PA are jerks. The people down here do not like us students from Wyotech. The cops down here will pull students over for nothing and make up a bunch of BS. I look at it this way though, aslong as you follow the laes you won't be hasseled.

I actually like cops. they tend to like me too. ive gotten out of lots of speeding tickets because im NICE to them. Even the guy who gave me a ticket (that im fighting becuase i was NOT speeding) i smiled pleasantly at and wished him a good day. Almost every cop i have (get) to deal with im laughing with by the end of our conversation.

no matter what, these guys work hard. every single city is bitching they dont have enough cops, therefore, those they do have are being overworked. theyre stressed out. they deal with idiot people all day, theyve heard it all. honestly, if you try being nice to them when they pull you over, youd be surprised with what you can get away with :)

:iagree: If you dont act like a prick with a cop its 50/50 if youll get out of a ticket. Besides if they give you a ticket its usually because YOU broke the law. Around here cops dont just pull you over for no reason.

I've never gotten pulled over when I didn't deserve it. We've all played a little cat and mouse, seeing what we could get away with - it's human nature. The police are only doing their job, and being polite goes a long way to making things easier. I was very nice to the state trooper that pulled me over about a year ago, and he suggested a way I could get out of the ticket in court - while explaining he had to write the ticket and apologizing - so as stated above, there are good ones and bad ones.

police are human...catch them on the wrong day and u'll have some trouble on your hand...let a cop get hurt during a traffic stop and all cops are on edge...never had a problem in all my tickets and and being hand-cuffed (3 times...all funny stories) but they were all white...the white man is always on me

had a cop once pick on me for being left handed

Chevy, I'm quickly tiring of your better than thou attitude. If you are a cop, that is great, more power to you. I can respect what you do, but I will not tolerate you insulting people, talking down to them, or telling them to shut the hell up. So simply put, either drop the attitude and talk nice, or don't post. People don't need to be told to shut up or slow down. Generally, when they post in this section it is because they just got pulled over. They just got told to slow down by another officer, possibly their parents (age dependent) whatever, they are looking for advice, not attitude, so if you can't deal with that, then as I said, don't post.

As far as this thread goes, I think I've made my views on police very clear, there are good ones and there are bad ones, but they are humans, 9 times outta 10 we are the ones breaking the law, and they are jsut doing their jobs, so I really see no need for this thread, as it is only inviting trash talking by people overly bitter about being recently pulled over. So I'm going to close it.
