I need some help here guys i want to swap out my stock engine for a vtec. I have been looking around on the net and from what i can tell about the best swap i can find would be for this engine.
DOHC VTEC 16 VAL TYPE-R B16B
HP:190@7600
TORQUE: 116 LB-FT@7300
REDLINE 8200 RPM
DISPLACEMENT 1595CC
TRANSMISSION TYPE HYDRAULIC
I found this motor at a web site it comes with complete motor computer, engine mounts 5 speed lsd transmission .I live in louisiana so there is not to many places around to find engines like this the price i got was 4600 plus cost of shipping. I think this motor will swap right out with my stock motor but im not 100 % sure can anyone tell if it will thx guys. :banghead:

u might have to re-wire the distributor, and buy the rear si mount....but it should bolt up...why dont u just go for the b18c5....i know the block and crank of the b16b is supposed to hold more power....but....

explain this. You are aware a b16b is a destroked ITR correct?
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19176
go there and everything you'll need to read about will be their.
4600 is a bit steep for a CTR motor i'm sure more shopping will help. try www.hmotorsonline.com talk to steve.

:iagree: if you're going to go w/ a Type R series motor.....then i would go w/ the ITR rather than the CTR. Personally i would get a GSR and build it up a little. I think that the ITR is a good engine, but its limited to strictly NA applications.

like u said...its de-stroked....so de-stroking an engine changes the characteristics of the entire engine no? the length that the piston travels, the degree at which combustion happends? the efficiency of each stroke? the CTR has better characteristics compared to the ITR, theres a certain ratio that determines an engine efficiency by comparing the stroke to the degree at which the cylinder fires, and the civic is alot closer to that ratio than the ITR....i didn't mean the ctr is stronger by parts

What it sounds like your talking about is the R/S ratio. You don't understand if you can't name it so don't worry about it. The perfect R/S ratio doesn't exist and it depends on what the motor is for anyway.
Your not going to be revving either of those motors to 14K+ plus so even as ricers like to claim the sloppy 1.54 R/S of the LS motor still able to go sky high.

actually the ls motor can't handle high rpms, they dont even use oil squirters

really? News to me and my 8500 rpm safe for 9K bottom end
all my parts are stock and safe for it just lil time at the machine shop.
Oil squirters can be done but arn't needed.

I woulda ran back to v-8s first off
Your looking at the late run 98+ ITR motor JDM if its making those #
not the b18c1 thats the code for the US GSR.
probbly on ebay its a scam if that low or somthing is wrong. 4400 sounds lot more sane for a ITR swap.
with this 10k is this going to include work on the motor swap costs etc? or just 10K for a motor?

well me a a friend can swap the motor out in his dads garage so i guess the 10 k would apply to any extras i need for the swap to buy the motor and start some upgrades i have thed16y8 motor in my car now i heard they where cheap to mod and can bring a ok amount of hp but i was thinking about the b18c1 with the stock 180 hp then go from there with new rods and pistons and maybe a turbokit im just not to sure what the best mods to start off with on the motor are i would think rods and pistons would be the way to go at first and then the turbo id alrdy be at above the hp of my stock motor with them mods with just the stock b18c1 so what would you do im stuck and i need a little bit of help to get me rolling along here

What do you have for a budget, that's really going to determine what you can spend on this engine.
If you want a great engine w/ a 6spd, you could buy a K20 from me......

honestly i say internally build the shit out of your singlecam, then turbo and boost it to like 20lbs...you can do all that for like 5grand, maybe less if you get in with a shop!!
