carb vs fi

Ok I kow that stock the fuel injection is better then carb, but what about after market what is better duel webbers or fuel injection? I am leaning more towards duel webbers ,but I would like to know what y'all think.

You can get about the same ammount of power out of a motor with either system. The advantage of an MPFI system is that it's more precise and efficient. If you're starting from scratch, a dual carb system is probably a less costly and less time consuming way to go.

i'd have to say that this isn't true, carbs and manifold are costly and tuning is very time consuming and frustrating. plus the 50% drop is fuel economy is also costly these days. if someone is unloading a manifold and set of carbs that is already set up for the civic for cheap, then consider it, otherwise find another option.

Cvcc wagon, that's kinda what I had in mind. Webers go for anywhere from $50-$100 a piece on Ebay, then there's also the cost of the custom intake manifold, filters, etc. The overall cost for a dual carb set up would be somewhere around $250-$400.

For fuel injection you need a FI cylinder head, IM, ECU, wiring, sensors, fuel pump, injectors and a factory wiring diagram in order to figure out where all the wires go.

It's gonna' run about $50-75 for a used cylinder head, about $20 for the IM, $40 for the injectors, $20 for the throttle body, $20-100 for the ECU, depending on the type of ECU, $40 for an O2 sensor, $20 for an exhaust manifold for the O2 sensor, wiring $20, and a new top end gasket set $100. In the end it will still cost about $400 to change a carbed motor over to FI, but you'll also have the headache of installing the wiring. At this point it's only worth it if you can get these parts free or off a cheap parts car, but you'll have a more fuel efficient car in the end. If you want to go with a programable ECU, you're talking about an even larger investment.

I'm a fan of fuel injected cars, but if your car is not fuel injected to begin with, it may not be worth the effort of swapping every thing over. I'd stick with carbs unless fuel efficiency is an issue, but it doesn't sound like it is, otherwise you wouldn't be considering dual Webers.

fuel efficiancy is a little worry ,and i was lookin around and found kit with carbs and mainfold and bassically bolt on for $377. the head I cuurently have is for carb and it just got rebuilt andit is like brand new. the car doesn't run because of the original carb it came with has about a million vacuum lines and we have tried to get them straight but but it stumps us every time. I am pretty sure i wil go with duel webbers ,but if it is gonna cause a big fuel efficiancy drop i am not sure.

Check redpepperracing.com for more info. You can also see if there is a motorcycle salvage yard in your area and poke around to see what you can find. Some motorcycle carbs are attached with by a silicone sleeve. You can cut your intake manifold about 2-3" from the cylinder head and attach this sleeve right to the nubs that are left on your IM.

agreed, i forgot about this as well, it would mean diving into some unknown teretory as it hasn't been done very often but if i had to redo my setup i think that is the rout i would go
