Just buy the right ECU (P28 or P08)... Youll be way better off... Otherwise youll have to modify the OBD0 distributor to fit, and buy an RPM activated switch... Which is about the cost u could just get an OBD1 ECU for anyways... Plus with the switch, you wont get any added fuel for the VTEC cross over like you would with a real VTEC ECU... IMHO, its not worth it... Specially with a whole swap...

Yeah if you can just buy the correct ECU. My MSD rpm switch with adjustable pill was about $70. The only reason I went this route was a) lack of time to find the correct one and b) I planned on using the switch to activate something else later on.

If you want to go the RPM activated switch route just get one off Summit racing. They have them for like $40.

Or also if you keep your ECU you can get someone to burn you a chip with updated fuel maps. If you want to do this let me know, I know a guy that does them for about $15.

Vtec controller? I assume you are talking about a VAFC, if so then no. Don't waste money on that worthless crap.

P08 is your best bet. OBD0 ecu for vtec... it's probably easier to install than the rpm switch stuff...

VTEC controller will work, because it will add the required fuel... But its more expensive than just doing it with the right ECU... Plus to work effectively, it must be tuned professionally...

As the P08 ECU is not OBD0, its OBD1... So youll have alot of wiring to do, as well as with the P28... But its well worth it...

As for RPM activated switch, as I said, its about the same price as an ECU... The ECU may be a tad more... But trust me, in the long run, it will pay off...

If u cant afford it right now, then just dont use VTEC... If you just swapped in a fresh engine thats been sitting for a while, or installed a new clutch, you shouldnt run it hard for a few hundred miles anyway...

So which is the OBD0 vtec ecu? P04?

There isnt one that would be compatible... The only OBD0 ECUs would be for DOHC VTEC (PW0 & the PR3), which needs sensors that the SOHC dosnt have, like the knock sensor... Which is the problem with the SOHC VTEC swap, if there was a compatible ECU, it would be much easier to swap, no OBD1 conversion...

Yea, the P08 is for the JDM D15B VTEC... But this engine originally comes from a 92-95 Civic, which is OBD1...
