well it has come to a time where my tranny is shoot and i was wondering since i have an extra tranny if it would be the same it is a 5 speed out of a 98 lx my car is a 99 ex is the gearing going to be the same or even close about how much to rebuild a tranny or is there any tranny rebuild kits you kow of. the problem is it wound stay in second gear i believe the synchos are done for.what do you all think

im pretty sure the LX and EX use the same transmission, it's only the SI and Integra that use a closer ratio tranny

i believe.....the gearing in the lx and ex are diffrent....still bolts up though

Just a question, but if you have a spare tranny why rebuild the bad one? It would probally be cheaper to just junk the bad one and then, if you like having a spare, get another tranny.

the reason i would like to rebuild me tranny is because i dont know how good my spare is. also only one gear is bad on my tranny and i would like the exprience

I would swap trannies rebuilt the EX one and swap again.

thanks ace i think your the only one with my point of view on this i know the other tranny will bolt up but i wasnt sure if the lx tranny gears where a bit more gas friendly compared to the ex being a bit sportier

ace do you know how hard it will be to change out the synchos because i think thats all that is wrong be that it only grinds going into second and from what i hear some honda trannys are know for 2nd going out. also does anyone know where to buy a rebuild kit or just the synchos

rebuilding a tranny is a major headache. Tons of little parts and shit you have to keep track off. Make sure to have a few baggies laying around and a sharpie to mark them.

yeah...rebuilding a tranny isn't a novice job....but if u like making a mess.....go for it....u can pick up an S20 trans...its a jdm ex tranny....i got mine for $300 cost....gears are a little longer....feel's alot better 2....

when i used to live in Chicago, the shop i worked at had a connect w/ some spanish guy who imports all types of trannys, i can find out and let u know if u want
