Where’s the HEAT!!

Ok, its gonna be gitten cold soon. I’ve already had a few mornings in the high 30’s and have had to use the heater to take the chill off.Last year this 1.9L wouldn’t get pass the “N” on the temp gauge and the air out the vents was warm at best.Put a new heater core in late last year but so far I can’t tell any difference in the outlet temperature.Any body covering the radiator or should I just buy a snowmobile suit?

You need a new thermostat....

Did that, http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=179869. with the new heater core, hoses, yada, yada...Can you put a heater core in the wrong way??, dont think so, but that was a while ago.

I'd still try another thermostat. Since you have a new heater core then that's about all that could cause this. You may have got a bad one.

Ya..wazzup with these heater problems with these cars??..I think thet are basically a cold running engine(they are) that don't tolerate overheating too well.This being said seems that as soon as the temp
s drop these things shed all their engine heat.It is NOT an airflow through the rad or past the engine issue entirely
I also think they have lazy/badrmostats..OR some sort of recirculatory deal that the thermostats are always on the verge ofor trying to open and NOT stay closed.
Mine has..new pump,hoses,stat,..I am guesssing the stat made some difference.It wasn't awful last winter..ok I guess.

Here we are again...cool weather..NOW the t/gauge BARELY gets to the BEGINNING of the "N" in normal.I also have a mechanical t gauge in the car..the sender is in the heater line at the firewall.Barely gets to 120 degrees.

NO question..there is more heat now.The t gauge hasn't moved much but I think they get lazy.The car DOES NOT cool off like it used to.The heater air is pretty warm with an outside tembout 30F.

This winter..when it is -20 with high winds and blowing snow as I drive back from skiing in the dark.You think I am goin' through this "marginal" heat stuff..NO WAY..I am getting some rubber mats or carpet and making up some hangers so that I can hang one..or two over the rad support and try coverring the rad.Nope..IF I have to wrap this ENTIRE engine in one of those heat retaining blankets..this little enigne gonna be nice! and warm with the temperature gauge up NICE! in the middle..

In -20 you could probably completely cover up the radiator. The heater core would act as a mini-radiator. I get cold just thinking about that snow.

One time this Eskimo was riding his snowmobile in a blizzard and it broke down. He had it towed in to a shop. The mechanic came out and said,"Blow a seal?" The guy, wiping his mouth, said,"No, that's just frost"! :rofl:
