I have received an donor car which has EW3 PGM FI engine on it. My car(1986 Civic sedan) has EW1 carburattor engine. I want to change my car´s engine to EW3. Is there on internet some tutorials for doing it? Has anyone done it allready? All hints/suggestions are welcome.
I´ve figured myself out that there are two ways doing it:
1)swapping the whole engine(everything from electonics, gas tank fuel pump to axles)
or
2)swapping the cylinder head+everything on it + electronics
Does EW3 cylinderhead fit on the EW1 motor block?
Which gearing gives me a better acceleration (i´m driving alone mostly):
Gear I II
1) 2.961 2.961
2) 1.764 1.764
3) 1.181 1.192
4) 0.846 0.866
5) 0.714 0.718
Final gear 4.266 4.250
One more question: what does the fuel cut-off solenoid valve does excatly in a carburatteur? Does it regulate idling revs?

your best bet is to swap out everything that connects to the motor even the fuel tank and motor cuz carb doesn't run a fuel pump and pgmfi does and as for the axles and stuff id swap them over if they were good in the other car. and as fo rthe tranny ur faster acc. would be the 2 one cuz the lower the number the faster u go and the higher the number the faster u accelerate. well thats what ive been told so. but as for the change heads i myself wouldn't infear of damageing something in the middle of the job but good luck with that
