98 taurus dying at stops??

i have a 98 taurus w/24v dohc, that past 2 days at random stop lights/signs my car will stumble, jump, then die. it doesnt happen all the timme tho, just every few stops while im driving it...anyone know what might be causing this? appreciate any help!!

just wanted to update on this, driving home from work tonight my "overdrive off" light started flashing and the car died at ever stop i made...does anyone have any information on whats causing this?

Sounds like your torque converter clutch is remaining locked as you approach stops. This means your wheels are essentially locked to you crankshaft, so as you stop the wheels, it loads the engine, stops it rotating, which causes it to stall. Not sure what the common issue or fix is. Maybe a new solenoid?
