Who's your Rubik's Cube solving daddy!

Thats right folks, i learned the last moves last night and I mastered the harsh mistress that is the Rubik's Cube. It really isn't that hard, it just involves memorizing a lot of moves and not screwing up. i think i need to take a nap now :bloated:

Isn't the Rubik's cube dead and buried??? I had one of those when I was about 10! :p

Same here, after I solved the damn thing I threw it away because of the mental torment. And now you are telling me that it was easy!!! :stormzap:

once you get the hang of it tis very easy to do....though tis been a long long time since I last saw a Rubiks cube let alone use it...:)

I dont think you can even buy them anymore in NZ....I haven't seen one for a long time

Well, I'm coming out and saying it..I'm..I'm a Rubik's Cube addict. I can solve them in under a minute. I only started in October, but already I have more than 10...I can solve the 4x4x4, 5x5x5, and I just made one with two solutions, color and shape, that can be solved blind. Pics here. (http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291798697) I have so far spent more on Rubik's Cubes than I have on aftermarket parts for my car...but I'm changing! Really I am! I can stop any time! I used to cheat.

Dad said I wasn't allowed to take it apart so I pulled the stickers off and moved them. (i ended up with a completly black rubix cube:) made it sooo much easier)

Snowboarder, Boingo, very nice work. While I don't consider myself to be a complete dumbass, Rubick's Cube always made me feel like one. It's only a matter of turning sides for say five minutes before I determine that the thing is obviously impossible and move on to better (read: simpler :rolleyes: ) things.

However, it does make me feel a little better to hear that you are solving them just based on memorization. I thought there was just something I wasn't seeing with the dots' layout, like maybe looking at a complicated chess board and seeing moves way before they even happen.

Its just a matter of doing a certain move for different situations. So far my fastest time is 2 minutes, i feel thats darn good for learning 2 days ago. i thought i would get sick of solving it after a while but it still satisfies my geek hunger.

That is DARNED fast for two days ago..say, what part of Utah are you in? Up north I bet. Just wait until you try the Rubik's Revenge 4x4x4 (http://www.rubikshop.com/cgi-bin/shop_new.cgi/SID=1022288444.4554.r/page=revenge.htm) , it requires two new moves to solve...

To JD, don't feel dumb, I could never solve the cube until last October my cousin taught me the 'secret moves...the best easy-to-learn site I have found on the internet is here (http://people.eecs.ku.edu/~andere/cube/3t.html)
if you're interested in learning. Most of the other sites out there have algorithms, algorithms, and more algorithms, with no pics.

It always killed me that kids that were way dumber than me could solve the cube and I couldn't, ya know?
