Your tricks of the trade...

what are ur tricks to make things easier or faster? Just like in the building trade what are your special ways of building your models?

Recently I bought a organizing case. I cut off all the pieces that will be painted one color, put it in one compartment, then repeat for all the pieces.

Then, when everything is proper and primed, airbrush all the pieces, starting from the lightest color to the darkest color. Then do detail painting, and then assembly. Of course, glue all parts that will be one color together prior to painting...

I'm trying it out as we speak, don't know how much faster it'd be, really. So far it feels like I'm "more machine than man" like I'm some kind of machine in a car factory..not sure how I feel about that yet.

buy all the proper tools, that makes things way better. I got a precision woodworking set that works wonders, a black and decker mouse power sander, airbrush, lots of automotive body work stuff, mini scissors, lots of toothpicks for stuff, power drill, I'd love to have a little bandsaw, that'll be my next tool.

I'm nothing like daggerlee though, but I'm just naturally disorganized and I work that way with everything in my life ;)

I don't got many tricks.All I got is a table ready with all the stuff I need.Like that I know where everything is.

Word up! Also while you are assembling the rest of the kit, it gives the paint on the body a longer time to cure

TIME....You need to be able to sit down for a good 2-3 hours with out being disturbed so you can spend a good amount of time on it.

Dont rush it...take your time.

Make sure you are in the mood to do it before you even start

right on man my building desk was and still is a builders nightmare but i find everything just fine where it is.

my secret to better models is coming to this forum and reading threads like this :p

im using the organization techniques too. it does help IMO. got those organizing trays at the craft store for 2 bucks. also got an art case to hold all my paints & tools. looks like a fishing tackle box without the fishing stuff.
