First System Extreme Noob

alright this is my first system as i am 16, and i have a 98 Intrepid Sport with the Infinity system, so i think i only need 2 subs head unit, and an amp, wat i want is i want bass but i dont want it so its annoying i was thinking maybe 2 10's or possibly even 2 8's if there powerful enough. I was looking at 2 10's sony xplod's. and i dont know which head unit to choose, i want one where i can hook my ipod up to. and no idea wat amp, someone help a noob :)

if you don't want annoying bass, i'd recomend against xplods. go to ur bestbuy or circuitcity and give them a listen there. try eclipse or RE audio i hear is really good. do some research, familiarize urself with terms and what to look for in a sub/amp.
For a head unit, some good companies to look into are kenwood, pioneer, clarion, panasonic, Alpine, etc. If you want cheap, Jensen is decent, though most pple will bash it and say it sucks. you get what you pay for. In the end, choose a HU you really like. they all have cool features, ups and downs. no two are equal.

Penler, do you have a budget to work with? A figure would probably help us find something for you :)

budget is the main thing here. post it and you will get numerous replies helpin u out

technically i dont have a budget, but i dont want to spend to much in a system, cause i could use that for other things so around 500 maybe/ i found a head unit it is a pioneer. so all i really need help with is if theres better sub i can get thats too expensive and an amp for the subs

www.reaudio.com i would go with either 2 RE 8's or 2 RE10's and a Profile amp. You will also have a good amount of money left over

A nicer amp you might want to look at would be a soundstream (NOT SOUNDSTORM). their Human Reign amp looks real tight, but looks mad expensive, too. i've never seen a price tag on it, wouldn't even know where to ballpark it.
also, JL makes nice powerful/reliable amps as well.:2cents:

I was in the same boat, im 16 too and hate the anoying bass that just anoys the crap out of you. I went with a 12" MTX roadthunder, which i got for $20, ported box (by me), and a MTX 282 amp (used for $90), which gives the sub 280watts. I listen to mostly Trance/Techno with some rock/rap here and there and the system sound really good in all kinds of music. I get the sharp bass for trance and rock, and yet get pretty good deep bass that is commonly found in rap. My box is a little under 2 square feet and is stuffed. I also like the sound of a bypass enclosure.

haha um..... what do you mean you hate annoying bass that just annoys the crap out of you? you are obviously nor super concerned with sq if you have an mtx, you listen to rap/trance/techno/rock, and like the sound of bandpasses.

well actually if you just mean that a lower level of bass makes music sound a lot better/ fuller then i agree, but you can achieve thsi with a loud substage too, just turn it down. headroom is nice.

By anoying bass, well my previous phrase sounded a bit funny, but i hate when all you hear is damn bass, in my car when you stand next to it you can hear my hole music (and license plate rattling). I just hate when people sit in parking lots with their bass on highest listening to rap with their shit speakers and all you hear is bass. Bass is fun but only in balance with everything else.

I think he means the anoying bass made by cheap subs or AUDIOBOMBS.
