troble with a 97 talon

I got a friend with a 97 eagle talon and his is haveing troble. The car will start but with you go to go it hit 2000 rmps and dies. Its a 5spd turbo FWD and I think it might be the turbo but dont know. ANY HELP???

The car starts and runs fine till you want to go. The car wont go forward or backwards. It wont move!! You put it in gear to go and it will die. It will rev to 2000 rmps and die. The turbo fan was spining so I dont think its the turbo making it die and not run. But the turbo tac in the car wont move. It dont make sence to me. I just thought he might have blown his turbo and its not alowing him it go. He had a guy look at it today but he had no clue. ANY HELP??? thats about all I know at this time

I'm not sure but could this be a problem with the cat convertor? I'm not sure if this could be the problem but it seems that if the cat convertor was clogged almost completely, then at idle the car would seem to run semi fine if not perfectly fine, but when the throttle is pressed then the pressure is getting higher and higher in the exhaust until it gets too high and kills the engine. Is this correct or am I talking out my ass?

does the car move....had the same problem but it was the through out barring....could be vaccume leake...boost leak...more info would be nice...

when u stick ur finger in the turbo does it have shaft play are the fins missing off the turbine?
