SVT Focus Vs. LT1 Z28

Last night I'm coming home from Wal-Mart and as I turn right on to the highway I see Camaro Tail lights a head of me. There are no cars around so I say what the hell right. After I speed up and catch him, it is a Z28. He looks over and laugh's. I slow down to 30 mph, so does he. I roll down the window and ask if he wants a head start. He laughs again and flips me off. I tell him to honk 3 times. He does and we both gun it. I mash the gas in 2nd gear and when my tires hook up I pull up on him quickly and by the time I hit 90+ mph and shift into 4th I have 2 car lengths on him and pulling. I have about 3 1/2 car lengths on him at 120 mph. I shut it down to wait for him because he was slowing down. He makes a u - turn instead.
Wow, flipping me off must have felt really good right about then.
Oh, one more thing I was only running a 50 shot last night due only having 93 octane in the tank.

So you have a mostly stock svt with a bit of n2o and you pulled on an LS1 by 3 lengths or so? I'm not raising the BS flag just yet, but how?

This is not the only Z28 I have taken out. Remember, It was from a roll on. If it was from a light I would have needed 75-100 shot to take him. Tall gearing, a flywheel 13lb.s lighter than stock, 2700 lb car and spray go well together. I have been killed by modified Z28's and SS's but not stock.

hi all, i don't have a scanner but i just did my dyno yesterday on a dyno jet and temp was 73 degrees Farinheit, humidity was 29.22 ci/hg and this is what i got
max hp. = 143.97
max tq. = 127.86
and my A/F started at approx 15.3 with a linear curve going down to like 11.7 as the rpm's rose
the thing is...all i have is an AEM short ram intake and i feel my numbers are really low compared to other SVTF's this other guy with his own custom short ram and a msrp cat back showed a little higher hp/tq then me... his #'s were 148.?? and tq was 129.?? it's not that far off... but still i thought i would be hitting at least 155hp and 135tq... cause i see others on here post their dyno #'s all stock and they are reaching those #'s what could be the problem with my baby, besides needing more bolt-ons cause i will address any issue to my dealer so i can resolve these low #'s and any help would be greatly appreciated Current Implants: Grounding Wires, AEM Cold Air Intake, Ford Racing Strut Bar, Smoked Nite Shade Side Markers, Home Made Shorty Antenna, Steeda Tri-Ax Short Shifter, VF Engine Mounts, SCT Xcalibrator 1 (tune by Wayne @ Hypnotic Illusions ), Nx 50 Shot Wet Kit

Becuase unless you were hella outside of city limits, except for crossovers, there is no place on 121, both going into Down Town Fort Worth or towards Dallas, to pull a u turn, unless you exit the highway. Neither are their cross lights, save for the ones next to 121 going towards 820. And the speed limit is 60. I know, when Im home, in Texas, 99.9% of my highway racing is on 121 in the Metroplex between Grapevine, Southlake, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Ft. Worth, Dallas, and the best God damned city in the state, Colleyville.
Oh, and if I recall correctly, the Saleen SVT Focus with nitrous ran a 15.3 pass on the spray...

A Saleen focus which has the 151 flywheel HP duratec ( SVT Focus 170 ) runs a 70 shot wet system = 221 Flywheel HP runs the 1/4 as follows;

If you had read my post, that is not my car. . . Those times / MPH are from a SALEEN focus with 20 less flywheel horsepower then I have. That is the numbers that Motor Trend has for the Saleen when they tested it.
And this is from a roll on. FWD and RWD really don't matter as much as Power to Weight Ratio & Gearing. Trust me, these are pretty comparable from A ROLL ON.

This would be like me saying I beat an LS1 with my car, it's just not going to happen in any situation. Your car would be a good match for mine in a roll, but not an LS1.

SS's and Firehawks pull on me, not as bad as you may think though. Although I usually run when I'm on a 75 shot of nitrous. Regular Run of the mill Z28's I can get from a roll on with a 50 shot.

Well, what I meant was which bodystyle? 93-97 or 98-02? The 93-97 had the LT1, 98-02 had the LS1

I would have to say the 93-97 then. The Second pic you posted of the SS is the rounder body style. It was definitly not that.

Thats a good quarter time (for what its worth). But seeing as the race was from a roll, its the trap speed that counts. You need to be trapping at AT LEAST 100mph to even run EVEN with a z28.

I actually beleive him. An LT1 traps slightly lower than the timeslip he posted, probably about 95 mph (looking at dragtimes.com). Plus factor in the condition of the engine (the camaro probably had a lot more miles), so it's beleivable.

That doesnt show drops. Heres a dyno with the nitrous added and its pretty accurate. Notice your hp and torque peaks and the ls1. You would get blown away.

this may be off topic but a completly stock contour with a zetec (125hp vs his 170hp) with only a 65 shot ran a 14.4.. now these run mid 16 stock VS your mid-high 15
and he's heavier/lesstq/hp and way less mods then you

I post on the regular there. I read his original post with this attached and It said, Bolt on's and Nitrous 50 shot. Trust me. I have also seen mid low 13's with the SVT on 75-100 shot. That time is dead on.

wow this thread developed quickly, this is the first time ive seen it. lol i saw LT1 in the title and was wondering why everyone was saying LS1, but then i saw it was changed.... All in all i find it believable if its an LT1. I like those SVT focuses too, you got a 2 door?

Yeah, 3 door and this post is for real, I don't BS or like people who do. I have been killed before, GT's 3000 GT's, Turbo Eclipses, Even by mildly modified LT1's. But I do have my fair share of kills under my belt of all the listed cars as well. This in a car that gets 34 mpg on the highway and stops from 60 in under 120 ft.
This has developed quickly because a lot of people who don't know called the BS Flag and I have spent too much time defending my car. I know my car isn't the fastest, but it is quick and I would not spend this kind of energy on BS.
