I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler with a black hardtop. I have had the Jeep for over a year and still can't find out the best way to get the qxidation off of the top. It's really starting to look crappy. What is the best way to get it off and keep it off? Everything I have done so far only seems to be temporary, a week or two. Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Your top is fiberglass. I've heard that several people have had good success with marine products. Check at your local boat store, they should have the products you need to rejuvenate your top.

Maybe there is something about Jeeps but the paint does not just fade, the clearcoat peels like a bad sunburn. An example of this and how it can be restored is shown here, [link removed by moderators] Whether the paint is just badly faded and oxidized or has more serious clearcoat peeling issues, I know it can be restored or refinished to like new color, shine and luster with any premium automotive clearcoat. The one I use is the Vivilon Tough Enough because there is no mixing, low toxicity, fast drying (3-5 minutes to the touch) and it is easy spraying for an amateur like me. In my experience, it has better weathering than the urethane clears and almost as good acid/alkali and impact resistance. Just thoroughly clean it and spray one or two coats on and your set for 5-7 years. I've had it on my Ford truck for 6 years and it still looks good. Anyway, just MHO :-)
