When it is cold in the morning it is real hard to start - I have to pump the hell out of the gas to get it to start .
Also I have some oil in the breather -- any ideas ?
Thanks to all
Dennis

Sounds like your compression is too low to get it to fire. Sounds like you are in need of a new engine. I would recommend running a compression check to see if you have 1 or more burnt valves. #3 exhaust valve is usually the first to go. Oil in the breather is caused by blow-by due to worn rings.

Other than hard start in the morning cold engine starts fine . It is a JDM motor with only 25k claimed mileage. Would th oil blow by cause poorer mpg than normal ? I am only getting 35 to 38 mpg.
Thanks Dennis

put the diagnostic fuse in under the dash and see if you get any error codes. also have you changed your plugs and cap/rotor? also take your PCV valve out and change it and make sure the rubber hose going to it is all clear. your car is throttle body so pumping the gas doesn't really do much, might try just starting it holding pedal halfway down, poor gas mileage can be caused by several problems but usually air cleaner or O2 sensor is worse culprit. should get in upper 40's with a 5 speed, if its a auto then 38 is about tops

hard start on morning: maybe you are getting mositure in distributor cap
oil in breather: is there oil in air cleaner assembly? if yes, replace PCV valve
