Sparky altenator???

Hey ummmm, i just bought a reman altenator from advanced parts.... and today when i started it, i popped the hood to see the belt shavings flying around everywhere, ( this is a very old problem) and i freaked out when i saw sparkes shooting out.... like they were huge, it was like a sparkeler was in my engine bay.... :eek7: what is going on :banghead:

Sounds like the shavings were getting charged and causing the sparks. Where exactly were the sparks coming form?

The sparks are coming off the side closest to the manifold, not the pulley side...

So then it's not the alternator. Don't know. Take a pic of it doing it

no no no it is coming off the altenator, but not from the pulley side, near all those plugs and such

Well,, this morning when i was starting the car... it didn't screech at all, and no sparks... but it screeched when i turned on my headlights... But when i was leaving school today, ( i had finals so it was short day) it screeched like a mofo.... i didn't have the hood open so i didn't see the sparks if there were any... another side note.... Are V belts the best way to go for the auto altenator? and 91 and 92 altenators are the same right?
