Wheel Stud replacement

I'm in the process of replaceing a wheel stud that broke off. AutoBone doesn't carry them so off to Advance I went and picked up the stud and lug nut. Went home and hello- the stud is waayy to small(diameter). I went back to the store and that's the only number they show. Is there another size out there? Where do I find it??? It's a 2000 GA SE.

The catalog shows all Grand Ams from 85-05 being the same stud for front and rear wheels. I know the hub bearings are different from 99-up (they contain the wheel speed sensor) than the older models(wheel speed sensor is on the spindle/axle), but they show the same stud number (dorman #610-254, GM#9595178 for reference) all the way to 05. It is possible your car has an aftermarket hub on it, and I've seen aftermarket hubs with a different knurl diameter (the part of the stud that presses into the hub) than the OEM.

Anything is possible - the car was bought with 70k on it so it's about 50/50 that the hub was replaced. It is the knurl part that is different in this case.

Try either another parts store or the stealership, there are some parts that differ between manufactures. Also, ask the parts store to cross reference them with the part number from the dealer.

Uh - yah- I think. The knurl is thicker than the threads on the original part. I have no idea what you mean after that.
