having problems with my 1991 pontiac firebird. installed a b@m star shifter and hooked up my nuetral safety switch. my car will go to start and run position but will not engage my starter or soliniod. removed starter with solinoid and had tested. all tests passed. reinstalled and car will still not turn over.replaced ignition switch on top of steering column and car will still not turn over. took screwdriver and arced solinoid and starter turned over.car runs fine.still unable to start car from inside.turned key back to accessory and no accessorys available.whats the problem i cant figure it out. is there a 35 amp accessory circut breaker somewhere, cant find it. checked fuse box all fuses fine.

So, this is an automatic? And you never had any problems before replacing the shifter? Does the '91 Firebird also have that "chip" in the key for the security system? I've got an '89 and had a problem with the ignition switch reading that "chip." I'm not saying that's your problem, just putting that out there. If that were the problem, the "SECURITY" light on your dashboard would stay on (if it's like my '89).
Otherwise, did the neutral safety switch fit back into the same mount, the same position, etc? This is an automatic, yeah?
Did you change anything else at the same time you replaced the shifter?
