1zzfze?

How much potential do you guys think can be obtained from a super charged 1ZZ? Or is it pointless and it's better off to just save up and make a s/c 2ZZ?

i think the 2zz will always be better. you can sc it and run lower boost and still make more power than a 1zz and be reliable too.

You won't get very good results with either one.. but the 2zz would be the better choice.

^yes, theres not really enoguh power (or tourqe in the matter) to really give these engines alot of power with a supercharger, it takes power (tourqe) to make power with a s/c and neither engine has shit for it
the only engine i could see was the 4age becuase not only was it a nice little motor it had a fairly nice powerband of touqre (even tho it didnt have much) it peaked at 3600, the 2zz and 1zz dont peak till after 5000

what was the reason for lotus choosing to s/c the 2ZZ? And from my understanding they try to keep much of the internals original to toyota's design to keep it smog legal. Maybe im wrong. Either way, so you guys think either motor just won't work well with a s/c. Hmm... i figured a high reving motor would be able to spin the s/c fairly quick, guess im wrong.

^ theres a drawback to that tho, if you have a high revving engine, and not alot of tourqe, youll gain a lot bigger percentage of hp and not alot of tourqe witch is what happened w the 2zzge supercharger
i.e. a supercharged 4agze has 175 hp and 165 ft lbs
a supercahrged 2zzge will have 250hp and only 160 pts of tourqe (example not real numbers), it takes power to make power...not to mention at higher revvs the supercahtrger will struggle to make power if there is not already enoguh power, think of it as its losing its volume of efficiency

so mainly small turbo would be the way to go for these motors?

since I want a flatter power band from these motors, not really looking at trying to make huge amounts of power.

ya i think that the turbo would be a better choice for the motor as it is more "free" power thatn compared to the supercharger, which will have some parasitic losses
i can't remmeber too many sites but, do some research and you should be able to find a turbo that fits your needs, a small one would be good if you don't want huge numbers, look at ball bearings for quicker spool
