neither hits harder. depending on how you wire will effect how much power you draw from your amp. this will depend on your amp as well. dual voice coil speakers expand your wiring options to better match a particular amp. just as and example, my amp is 800w x 2 @ 2ohms. what that means is that if my speaker is wire to 2 ohms and i hook it up I will draw 800 watts. same with the 2nd channel. with the same amp, if i wire the speakers to 4 ohm each and hook them up i will get 400 watts, 8 ohm would get 200 watts (roughly) if i were to run one sub at 4 ohm and use the positve from channel one and the negative from channel two (aka bridged) i would get 1600 watts. i mave have made this sound more complicated than it is but i hope i helped. check out rockford fosgates website for wiring diagrams, they have a good printer friendly page

Na it helped thanks. I have a Audiobahn 1600x2 4 ohm. It says the 2ohm is N/A. So i grab the the + from channel one and - from channel two correct? See ive had plenty of sound systems but my buddy would wire it for me cuz i very felt like doing it. Now i started building custom boxes for my car and it would be nice to do the wiring myself. Thanks for the help.

Depends on the sub's impedance and wattage ratings.
