you don't *need* an amp, u could just run it from ur head unit, it'll sound good enough. but u can only give it so much power, cuz HUs aren't that powerful. if u running a nice component system with like 100watts rms, ($100 a pair, maybe) you should def get a 4 ch amp to run ur speaks, you'd be happy u did.

An amp will make the difference between night and day. If your planning on hooking up a sub then yeah its usually highly recomended that you use an amp for your speakers. One thing you keep asking is for a good sub for under 130 im pretty sure most of the people on here would recomend to save up maybe another 100-130 to get a pretty good sub or set of subs.
