I have a 96' Sierra 1/2 ton, standard transmission. Was driving home yesterday and started hearing a faint whining noise. As I was slowing down I heard a loud thud. I immediatley hit the clutch and killed the pickup. Anyway, I cranked it back up and put it in gear, when I let the clutch out I don't go anywhere.
I assume the transmission is shot. Any ideas on what I will have to pay for a rebuilt one? Do I have any other options? The truck has 180,000 miles. Is this a pretty good lifetime for the transmission?
Thanks for any advice.

Look at my post in this thread http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=459210
The snap ring is much more likely to be your problem than the tranny.
